Lake Anna Christmas Open House Is Back!

The annual Lake Anna Business Partnership Christmas Open House is back!   Running from November 23rd – December 18th this event encourages everyone to shop local this holiday season.

Anyone making a purchase from participating merchants will earn drawing tickets.  A $5 purchase earns 1 drawing ticket, so the more you buy the more tickets you earn. Many merchants offer refreshments, special events and discounts throughout the event.
On December 18th bring all your tickets and join us for the After Hours Social at Lake Anna Winery for wine tastings and the prize drawings.

Fall Fishing On Lake Anna

Lake Anna is known for its excellent fishing and fall is the perfect time for a fishing trip.      The weather is still warm and the fish are still biting!

Our lake is home to a large variety of fish but the most common catches are largemouth bass, striped bass, walleye and perch.

If you’re looking for a fall fishing getaway, Dockside Realty offers weekly or nightly vacation rentals to fit any budget.   Many of our homes feature boat docks or dock access making it convenient to head out for a day of fishing, or simply cast a line from the dock.

Lake Anna’s Golden Treasure

You know Lake Anna is a great place for boating, swimming and fishing.   But did you know it is also a great place to look for gold?   That’s right, the land in Lake Anna State Park used to be known as “Gold Hill” and contained the Goodwin Gold Mine.

Gold was first discovered on the site in 1829 and mined through the 1880s.    While the mine was abandoned hundreds of years ago, it has not been forgotten.

Today the Lake Anna State Park features miles of hiking trails, including the Gold Hill trail where you can see the remains of the gold mine.     If you’re looking for your own treasure you can sign up for programs including panning for gold and gold mine tours.
