The annual Lake Anna Business Partnership Christmas Open House is back!   Running from November 23rd – December 18th this event encourages everyone to shop local this holiday season.

Our lake is home to a large variety of fish but the most common catches are largemouth bass, striped bass, walleye and perch.

Largemouth Bass Are Common At Lake Anna

Gold was first discovered on the site in 1829 and mined through the 1880s.    While the mine was abandoned hundreds of years ago, it has not been forgotten.

Today the Lake Anna State Park features miles of hiking trails, including the Gold Hill trail where you can see the remains of the gold mine.     If you’re looking for your own treasure you can sign up for programs including panning for gold and gold mine tours.

Come out to The Prince William County Fair,  the largest County Fair in the state of Virginia!   The annual event includes livestock exhibits, home arts exhibits, a rodeo, live music, shows, games and carnival rides.  And don’t forget to come by the Dockside Realty booth and say hello!

There’s no shortage of wineries in this part of Virginia, but naturally, some are better than others. Within less than an hour’s drive from Lake Anna, VA, you can find a number of wineries that have a great reputation for producing delicious wines of several varieties. Here are just a few we recommend you visit.

Keswick Vineyards

About 45 minutes Southwest of Lake Anna you’ll find Keswick Vineyards.  Family owned and operated, this vineyard produces Viognier, Verdejo, Rose, Merlot and blended red table wines. Keswick Vineyards rests on the historic Edgewood Estates, a marvelous Southern estate that’s worth the drive all by itself.  Enjoy the immaculate grounds as you sip fine, local wines. History buffs will also enjoy the vineyard’s rich history.

Barboursville Vineyards

This elegant vineyard has an extensive wine offering and the best variety in the Lake Anna, VA area. You can relax and enjoy a glass in their on-site restaurant, the Palladio.   After a day of enjoying great scenery, delicious wines, and fine dining have you tired out, consider staying in the 1804 Inn and Cottages.  These historic accommodations received high praise from the Washington-Post and should be a to-do on any visitor’s list.
